The Misadventures of skylar knight
Playthrough Video:
This project is a third-person action platformer developed during a game jam under the theme “Dive Deeper.” Our team interpreted the concept as literally diving deeper into the pages of a fairytale book. Players control a knight exploring a stylized storybook world, navigating platforming challenges, dodging hazards, and transitioning between dimensional layers of gameplay.
The game features a hybrid 3D–2D structure: players begin in a fully navigable 3D environment and are teleported into three embedded 2D levels that represent deeper narrative layers within the book. After completing each 2D segment, the player returns to the 3D overworld. The final boss encounter—a wizard—is presented in a fully 2D level, reinforcing the “deeper into the story” progression both mechanically and visually.
The project explores dimensional transitions, visual cohesion across rendering paradigms, and gameplay readability within stylized environments.
